 TIME EXPRESSIONS

A certain time specified:

- This time last year

- At+ time ( at 10 o'clock, at 3 o'clock last night, yesterday at 2 am)

- Last week on Sunday

- Three years ago in May

while + past continuous (Matt phoned while we were having dinner)

PAST CONTINUOUS

 Now complete the sentences with the verbs in brackets. Use the past continuous tense.


Affirmative

 SPELLING RULES FOR THE -ING FORM 


- With most verbs, we add -ing to the infinitive.

   see - seeing          watch - watching        buy - buying


- For verbs ending in -e, we remove the -e and add -ing.

  have - having        write - writing         save - saving


- For one-syllable verbs ending in a consonant+vowel+consonant, we double the consonant and add - ing.

  get - getting        run - running        shop - shopping

 PAST CONTINUOUS


  • We use the past continuous to talk about actions or events that happened at a specific time in the past. 

example: I was reading a book yesterday at 3 o'clock.
               You were reading a book yesterday at 3 o'clock.
